We collaborate with philanthropic organizations, nonprofits and policymakers to deliver trainings that accelerate the impact of communications programs.
We learn together
Academy trainers recognize the unique challenges movement communicators face, and that there is rarely only one solution to any communications challenge. So we approach every class as a collective by engaging, investigating and putting our group learnings into action. We incorporate these insights into our classes.
Center peer learning. We center peer learning to create space to learn from each other, interrupt imposter syndrome and build the resilience needed to take risks.
Engage, investigate and act. We create real-life challenges for participants to solve in every class. Students engage, investigate and then apply what they learn to their movement work.
Lead by example. Trainers are experienced communicators who are ready to share their best practices and lessons learned. We prioritize trainers who identify as Black, Indigenous, people of color and queer.
Personalized support
Our trainings go beyond the classroom session—we review and workshop existing challenges with participants. Each training provides participants with tools to put their learning into action right away, and includes 1:1 coaching sessions.
How we work
We partner with philanthropic organizations, coalitions, policymakers, and nonprofits to tailor training to support organizational and coalition needs. All of our training includes time for coaching and fostering peer learning.
Personalized support: Our trainings goes beyond the classroom session—we review and workshop existing challenges participants face. Sessions include tools for participants to put their learnings into action right away and can include individual coaching sessions.
Accessible hybrid model: We offer classes both in-person and virtual to provide the best option for your team. While we believe in-person participants engage more with their colleagues, deepen their learning, and build stronger relationships, we also deliver several trainings virtually to help remove barriers to participation.
Cohort: The Academy cohorts guide professionals through a multi-topic curriculum over several weeks, creating opportunities to work side-by-side with peers to hone skills and learn from each other across various subjects.
Tailored classes: Upon request, the Academy team will design a specific class or series of classes to meet the needs of your group or organization.
